Questions about Somvar Vrat

What is Solah Somvar Vrat?

It is a Sankalpa to observe the Monday Vrat for sixteen Mondays. The beginning, Katha and Udyapan should follow the devotee's tradition.

Must Somvar Vrat be Nirjala?

No universal severity applies. Devotees may follow Phalahar, a single Sattvik meal or another family-approved form suited to health.

Can Somvar Vrat begin on any Monday?

Practices differ. Some begin in Shravan or on an auspicious Monday, while others begin after guidance and a personal Sankalpa.

Fasting severity is not a measure of devotion. Adapt the Upavas for age, pregnancy, medication and health conditions, and seek qualified medical advice when fasting could affect your health.
