Reach Ambalapuzha and approach the temple on the NH-66. Change into traditional Kerala attire. Men must be bare-chested with mundu. Deposit all electronics and footwear at the counter.
Enter the sanctum for darshan of Lord Krishna (Parthasarathy). The deity holds a whip and conch, representing Krishna as Arjuna's charioteer. The ambience is deeply devotional.
After darshan, receive the famous Palpayasam (milk porridge) prasadam. This sweet offering, served in a small cup, is considered divine. According to legend, Lord Krishna won this recipe by defeating a sage in a game of chess.
If visiting during the annual Aaraattu, witness the grand procession of the deity through the backwater canals on a decorated boat. The procession through the water is unique to Ambalapuzha.
