Udupi Sri Krishna Temple

Udupi Sri Krishna Temple was founded by the great Dvaita philosopher Sri Madhvacharya in the 13th century. The temple is famous for the Kanakana Kindi - a small window through which a devotee named Kanakadasa, denied entry for being of a lower caste, worshipped Krishna. Miraculously, the idol turned to face him through this window, and even today devotees take darshan through this window. The temple is administered by the Ashta Mathas (eight monasteries) through a biennial rotation system called Paryaya, unique in Hindu tradition.
