Rukmini Devi Temple is located 2 km from the main Dwarkadhish Temple and is dedicated to Rukmini, the chief queen of Lord Krishna. According to legend, the temple is separate from Dwarkadhish because of a curse by Sage Durvasa that made Rukmini and Krishna live apart. The 12th-century temple features beautiful stone carvings and paintings depicting the love story of Krishna and Rukmini from the Bhagavata Purana. Despite being smaller than Dwarkadhish, the temple's architectural details are exquisite and it is an essential stop on the Dwarka pilgrimage circuit.
