Enter from the main gate on the Ganges side. Deposit footwear at the free shoe stand. Wash hands and feet at the taps near the entrance before proceeding.
Walk through the Natmandir (dance hall) and join the darshan queue. Weekdays are less crowded; Tuesdays and Saturdays draw larger crowds. Free darshan is available for all.
The presiding deity Bhavatarini (Goddess Kali) stands on Lord Shiva's chest. Take darshan from the queue line and offer flowers or sweets if desired.
Walk along the row of twelve identical Shiva temples on the river bank. Also visit the Radha-Krishna temple and the Rani Rashmoni shrine within the complex.
Visit Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa's room where he meditated for decades. See the Panchavati grove and the Nahabat (music tower) where Holy Mother Sarada Devi lived. Exit near the bathing ghat on the Hooghly.
