Enter from any of the four entrances (representing openness to all). Cover your head (free scarves available). Remove shoes at the joda ghar. Walk through the foot-washing pool to cleanse your feet.
Walk clockwise along the Parikrama (marble walkway) around the Amrit Sarovar (holy pool). Queue to enter the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in the centre of the pool, connected by a causeway. Take darshan of the Guru Granth Sahib inside.
Visit the Akal Takht Sahib (Throne of the Almighty), the highest seat of Sikh temporal authority, facing the Golden Temple. Visit the Central Sikh Museum on the upper floor of the clocktower entrance.
