Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati, Pune

Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple in Pune is the richest and most famous Ganesh temple in Maharashtra. Established in 1893 by sweetmeat merchant Dagdusheth Gadve after losing his son to plague, the temple houses a beautiful gold-plated Ganesh idol insured for over Rs 10 crore. The temple is adorned with approximately 40 kg of gold ornaments. During Ganesh Chaturthi, the temple's celebrations set the benchmark for all of Pune's famous Ganpati festivities. Lok Tilak (Bal Gangadhar Tilak) was closely associated with this temple's public Ganesh celebrations.
