Pashupatinath Temple, Mandsaur

Pashupatinath Temple in Mandsaur houses a unique 8-faced (Ashtamukhi) Shiva Lingam, one of only two in the world (the other being in Nepal). Each of the eight faces represents different forms of Shiva. The temple dates back to the 5th century Gupta period and features remarkable stone carvings. The Shiva Lingam here is carved from a single stone and stands about 7 feet tall. Recent archaeological excavations have uncovered even more ancient structures beneath, suggesting this has been a sacred site for over 2,000 years.
