Chengannur Mahadeva Temple in Alappuzha is unique as it is the only Shiva temple where the goddess (Parvati) is believed to menstruate. The temple closes for 3 days during the 'Thripputhu' ritual when the deity's cloth shows signs of menstruation, making it one of India's rare 'bleeding goddess' temples.
