Remove footwear and leather items at the base of Vindhyagiri Hill. Deposit bags at the storage facility. Carry only water and camera. The climb has 614 rock-cut steps.
Ascend the 614 steps carved into the rock. The climb takes 20-30 minutes for most visitors. Take breaks at the resting platforms. The steps are well-maintained but can be slippery.
At the summit, behold the magnificent 57-foot monolithic statue of Bahubali in deep meditation. Walk around the statue for a complete view. Note the intricate carvings of creepers on the body.
After descending Vindhyagiri, visit the smaller Chandragiri Hill which has 14 ancient Jain basadis (shrines) and the Chandragupta Basti where Emperor Chandragupta Maurya is believed to have attained salvation.

KSRTC buses run from Bangalore (150 km, 3 hours), Hassan (50 km), and Mysore (85 km) to Shravanabelagola.

Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore (BLR) is approximately 160 km away (3.5-hour drive).
By Rail
Hassan Railway Station (50 km) is the nearest major station with trains from Bangalore and Mangalore. Channarayapatna (12 km) is the closest small station.
Local Transport
The town is small and walkable. Auto-rickshaws are available for local transport. The hills are accessible only on foot.
Bahubali, also known as Gomateshwara, is a revered figure in Jainism. He was the son of the first Tirthankara Rishabhadeva and is considered a symbol of renunciation and non-attachment. The monolithic statue at Shravanabelagola is one of the largest free-standing statues in the world.
