Girnar Hill near Junagadh is a sacred mountain with temples from both Hindu and Jain traditions, requiring a climb of approximately 10,000 steps (over 3,600 feet). The Jain Neminath Temple at the top (the most important pilgrimage in Jainism after Palitana), the Amba Mata Temple for fertility blessings, and the Dattatreya Temple at the summit (10,000th step) are the main attractions. Emperor Ashoka's rock edicts are at the base. The newly built Girnar Ropeway reduces the climb significantly. The Parikrama of the entire mountain during Kartik Purnima attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims.
