Palitana Temples (Shatrunjaya Hill)

Palitana Temples on Shatrunjaya Hill is the most sacred pilgrimage center in Jainism, featuring over 900 temples built across a hilltop over a period of 900 years. The climb of approximately 3,500 steps takes about 2 hours and passes through increasingly ornate temple clusters. The Adinath Temple at the summit is the most important, and the hilltop complex is considered as sacred to Jains as Mecca is to Muslims. While primarily Jain, the site is also revered by Hindus and is an architectural wonder of marble and stone that must be experienced to be believed.
