The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya witnessed an all-time record of over 5 lakh devotees visiting during the three-day Holi celebrations from March 13 to March 15, 2026. The temple trust confirmed that this marks the highest single-festival footfall since the grand consecration ceremony in January 2024.
Security arrangements were significantly bolstered with over 3,000 police personnel deployed across Ayodhya. The temple administration had set up additional entry gates and queue management systems to handle the massive influx of pilgrims. Special darshan slots were extended from the usual 6 AM to midnight schedule.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the temple on the morning of Holi and participated in special puja ceremonies. He lauded the temple trust for the seamless management of such large crowds and announced plans for a new pilgrim facilitation center near the temple complex.
The Ayodhya Development Authority reported that local hotels and dharamshalas were fully booked weeks in advance. IRCTC ran 12 special trains to Ayodhya during the festival period, and the Maryada Purushottam Sriram Airport handled over 80 additional flights. The economic impact on the local economy is estimated at over Rs 500 crore during the festival period alone.
