Lord Kartikeya (Murugan): God of War

Kartikeya is the elder son of Shiva and Parvati (in some traditions, younger to Ganesha). He is the commander-in-chief (Senapati) of the deva army. Worshipped widely in South India as Murugan, he is the patron deity of Tamil Nadu. The six-faced god (Shanmukha) rides the peacock and wields the divine vel spear given by his mother Parvati.
